It seems like I was born with a hammer in my hand. We lived in several cities in Michigan and every place we moved to involved several stages of remodeling and the necessary maintenance and repairs that homes require. How well I still remember how I obtained my first brand-new ball glove: pulling nails from a five-foot-high stack of old lumber my dad had removed from the basement he was getting ready to repair.
Many valuable lessons were learned during those growing up years. The biggest lesson Dad taught us was, “If a job is worth doing, it’s worth doing well the first time.” There was no honor in covering things up and doing a half job. Dad also taught us that it was far better to lose fifty dollars and keep your word on how you were going to do the job than to try to get by with cheaper work and gain five dollars.
After finishing college and marrying Gracie, a farm girl from Ontario, Canada, we spent the next twenty years serving in Mexico as missionaries, helping the dear people there in many ways. Gracie’s nursing and teaching abilities was a great blessing while I applied myself to teaching as well as using the few tools I had at that time to repair and fix many things. One of the biggest challenges we faced was the conversion of a 200’ long chicken barn into a school campus. That took several months but it was rewarding to see the new dorm rooms, classrooms, cafeteria and kitchen where once there had been just an open shell of a building.
The summer of 1999 we made the move to Louisiana and I started my own remodeling business. I was blessed to make some wonderful contacts and the work started to come in. For over the next twelve years Betts Remodeling kept busy by word-of-mouth referrals. I am humbled and honored for all the wonderful customers I was able to serve in so many ways.
The first of August 2012 we moved to Greeley, Colorado to be with our children and eight grand kids. While we miss the friendly people in Louisiana, we certainly do not miss the humidity and sweat! Now we are here in this beautiful state looking forward to having the privilege of serving the wonderful people of Northern Colorado.
We simply do our best to give each and every customer the best attention that we can, and treat your home and property like it was our own. Your satisfaction is our goal and we look forward to being of service to you and helping meet your needs, great or small.
